The 2019 Desert Orthopedics Bend Paddleboard Challenge

Set on a calm stretch of the Deschutes River in beautiful Bend, Oregon, the 2019 Desert Orthopedics Bend Paddleboard Challenge welcomes racers of all skill levels to Central Oregon’s premier paddle board race. The June 22 race offers something for everyone with four racer categories (Elite, Recreational, Corporate, and Junior) and two distances (1.5 and 4.5 miles). The longer race will commence at 10 am, followed approximately two minutes later by the short race. All participants will receive a custom Bend Paddleboard Challenge T-shirt; the top three finishers in each race category will receive a custom pint. Register now online or in person at Bend, OR-based Stand on Liquid (1320 SE Reed Market Road) or Tumalo Creek (805 SW Industrial Way).


The 4.5-mile race will start approx 50 yards offshore Riverbend Park, proceed .5 miles upstream to the Healy Bridge, continue downstream .75 miles to the island, and return upstream .25 miles to and through the start line: three loops for 4.5 miles. The 1.5 race will follow the same course, but only complete one lap.

The 4.5-mile race will start at 10 am; the 1.5-mile race will start approximately two minutes later.

Race Categories

Elite, Recreational, Corporate (5 person teams), and Junior (17 and under).


From 3rd street in Bend, turn right on SW Reed Market Rd. going westbound.
At the roundabout, take your first exit down SW Bond St.
You will then take your first left onto SW Columbia St.
Drive over the bridge and take a left into Riverbend Park at the four-way stop sign.
